Situation

Music played an essential role in connecting people throughout the pandemic and continues to be vital in reconnecting communities moving forward. For aspiring professional musicians, the pandemic has been a challenging time. It has restricted opportunities to be tutored in person and almost all performance opportunities have been removed. This is an essential part of every musician’s development and is a difficult step to achieve normally - and even more so during the pandemic.

Solution

The Oxford Piano Festival offers young pianists a platform to present their talent to the public whilst receiving unique tutoring from world-leading piano professionals. The Festival is also an opportunity for the public to witness the teaching of some of the greatest classical musicians in the world. A selection of our events are livestreamed online, which further benefit a larger audience, beyond the space and time limitation of a performance venue.

  • "Undoubtedly one of the finest piano festivals in the world, the Oxford Piano Festival has contributed to who I am as a pianist in more ways than I can imagine."

    — Mark Viner (2021)

  • "Spending a week in beautiful Oxford and listening to some of the greatest names arrive from all over the world to teach and speak about music was inspirational."

    — Alim Beisembayev (2021)
