    Situation

Theatre is incredibly powerful in connecting people and communities, and in fostering a sense of belonging. For many in Bristol however, access to the arts is limited, and since Covid-19, many feel increasingly isolated without access to those opportunities which support positive mental health and wellbeing. This show will give opportunities to those we work with, who have never experienced theatre, people who have experienced homelessness, and in areas where access to the arts is limited.

    Solution

Collaborating with a range of community partners, we will reduce isolation by creating a large-scale community project, creating useful links between participants’ communities and the theatre. Participants will take part in high-quality creative content throughout the year, culminating in a personal and celebratory show on stage at Bristol Old Vic. We will empower the communities to tell their own story of Bristol, drawing on their own experiences, fostering a sense of connection and belonging.
