    Situation

    Spinal cord injury (SCI) can be caused by accident or illness and is a life changing, permanent condition, typically resulting in loss of bladder and bowel control, psychological trauma, permanent paralysis, loss of sexual function, and debilitating pain. The impact of such an injury is felt through every aspect of a person’s life. A catalogue of physical, mental and social issues come with a SCI, putting strain on family, work, and friendships.

    SIA exists to help everyone affected by spinal cord injury (SCI), our network of services advises, supports and educates SCI people and their families as well as campaigning on their behalf to help rebuild lives. Our team of experts offer guidance from the perspective of living with an injury, delivers clinical advice to save lives and represents people facing inequality and discrimination.
