Puppetry and live performance have the ability to be transformative. We feel passionately that everyone deserves to have access to these benefits, so we offer free tickets through our Puppets-for-All scheme. The scheme is available to families who would otherwise miss out due to financial barriers.

    Situation

LAT seeks to break down barriers to arts engagement. London has the highest level of child poverty of any English region - 43% of children in Inner London are living in relative poverty. In Islington at least 50% of pupils in our surrounding primary schools have never visited us before, despite being on our doorstep. Barriers include a lack of knowledge as to what theatre-going involves and a sense that the experience is ‘not for us'. The result is these children miss out.

    Solution

We are in a great position to take advantage of London’s polarisation by providing services for the wealthier members of the community, in order to provide for the less wealthy – and ultimately bridging this gap. By encouraging supporters to Pass it Forward, we can ensure that the opportunity to experience live puppetry theatre is accessible to all in our community. The projects also seeks to remove pre-conceptions about the theatre, demonstrating that it can be for everyone.
