Our mission at Wildside is to increase engagement with nature to the diverse communities of a deprived inner city area by offering adventurous and environmental activities, promoting wellbeing and an underlying appreciation of the natural world for all our users.
We are a ‘green oasis’, surrounded on all sides by differing natural habitats, none of which would normally be associated with living in a city. Our philosophy is that we explore and enjoy the outdoors, providing opportunities for learning, challenge, health improvement and personal development. Throughout we try to foster respect for the environment, and seek to care for it, helping safeguard our planet for future generations
The students have got so much out of their time at Wildside, they love being outdoors and experiencing new activities and most importantly they have transferred skills learnt in the classroom to the community.
Just wanted to say thank you to you all for such a wonderful trip on the narrow boat today. We had the most perfect time, from start to finish. Our boys were amazed and so relaxed on board. The crew both genuinely kind, helpful and friendly people. We would really like to return again very soon.
Even though the needs of some of our members are quite complex, the staff are accommodating and clearly have a passion to make their site accessible to all. The sessions they run are fun and informative, connect members with nature and their local community, and help develop interests and skills.
