    Situation

Permanent exclusions rates for girls rose by 66% in 5 years before the COVID-19 pandemic compared to 27% for boys (DfE). Aggressive/disruptive behaviours among girls in school are punished more severely because it falls outside gender norms. Mental health issues and sexual abuse occur at higher rates among girls by peers or outside of school. They're more likely to self-exclude if they feel unsafe in school environments that lack of resources or expertise to deal with complicated issues.

    Solution

FBB provides long-term intensive support in the classroom and pitch, starting at Key Stage 3 (12-14) to Key Stage 4. Our curriculum for girls programmes predominantly focuses on building their awareness of their talents to improve their self-esteem. We aim to enhance their social-emotional learning competencies, mental well-being, confidence and academic success through their passions and a trust-relationship with a team of mainly female, culturally competent practitioners.
