We wish to improve our community tree nurseries so we can grow more trees and plant new woodland in Devon. Your donations would enable us to nurture and grow 60,000 trees in our two community tree nurseries - 60,000 trees is enough to cover 96 - 120 football pitches of native woodland!

    Situation

Our planet is rapidly warming. Woodland, is one of the most effective ways of extracting CO2 from the atmosphere and locking it away, helping to fight climate change. Trees and wetland also help regulate water flow in Dartmoor’s many rivers, helping prevent flooding in villages and towns downstream. Restoration of Devon woodland habitats would increase diversity of plants and animals. By involving our communities we will teach more people about the importance of growing trees and how to do so.

    Solution

To accomplish this goal we require funding for core staff costs associated with spending more time growing trees and more time with volunteers. Our Nursery Manager would be delivering volunteer sessions and teaching the principles of growing trees. With more staff time we can work with more volunteers to increase the number of trees produced, with more of the community. The project will establish Moor Trees as a viable and approved supplier of locally sourced and grown native broadleaved trees.
