Situation
Children in Newham growing up in perpetual poverty, facing multiple issues and challenges, who were particularly hard hit by the Covid-19 crisis and face increasing hardship moving forward. This is compounded by a lack of opportunity to experience activities, breaks and holidays that many others may take for granted. The absence of respite increases their personal and emotional difficulties, reducing chances to fulfil their potential and flourish in the longer-term.
Solution
By providing fun, engaging, participative and interactive respite camping breaks during the Summer holidays 2022 and October half-term break 2022. Camping trips will be held at Essex Outdoors, a high quality outdoor activity site based in Mersea Island, Essex, with staff enabling/delivering a full programme of activities including climbing, abseiling, high ropes. assault courses, archery, sailing, swimming, caving, orienteering, den-building, bushcraft skills, nature trails and outdoor games.
