    Situation

Spitalfields is a densely inhabited part of Inner London. The proportion of homes with private gardens is unsurprisingly very low. From the earliest years through to adolescence, children need access to safe spaces to play and engage in physical activity. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, access to some of these safe spaces has been limited, and we know the pandemic has negatively impacted on children in the borough with this impact is likely to be felt for a long to come.

    Solution

Through our holiday programmes we will support local children to build independence, confidence and resilience at an important time in their lives and provide opportunities for them to have for fun and relax, as some transition from primary to secondary school. We will provide opportunities for children to socialise and develop new relationships with other local children by spending time together in nature, enhancing their health and wellbeing whilst establishing important relationships.
