Situation
The families we support are facing relentless struggles to make ends meet. We speak to countless parents who don’t eat so their children can, or forgo showering so they can bathe their baby. These families have been hit the hardest by the combined fallout of the pandemic, cuts to benefits and steep increases in living costs. The cost of living crisis has spiralled out of control and children are missing out on the childhood they deserve.
Solution
Little Village operates one of the largest ‘baby bank’ services in the UK, providing predominantly pre-loved items from other families, including all the essentials, from socks to cots, buggies to coats. We provide a signposting & advice service, calling families to check in with them, help them navigate any issues they may be having and link them to specialist services. We also work together with families we support to raise local and national awareness about the impact of early years poverty.
