Theatre Peckham is a placemaking venue & performing arts academy where local young people can ignite a lifelong relationship with the arts. We are a safe space where young people who are underrepresented in the arts can explore their creativity, platform their artistic work & have their voices heard.

    Situation

TP is in Southwark where 43% of children are growing up in poverty & 46% of people identify as Black & ethnically diverse. The impact of the pandemic & cost-of-living crisis poses serious challenges to those most vulnerable in our community, whose voices are significantly underrepresented in the arts & in the process of shaping society. 35% of our Academy students are on fee support. The social & financial barriers that many local young people face to accessing the arts are getting ever higher.

    Solution

At TP, we understand barriers to participation & develop effective means of addressing them. With donations to this campaign, we will provide more young people with supportive, positive & financially accessible opportunities to improve their wellbeing, engage with their peers, develop their creative self-expression & see their lived experiences creatively reflected. We will offer free/subsidised places on our high-quality performing arts training/programmes for young people who need it most.
