Situation
Our Young Tree Champion Ambassadors programme is a positive response to the growing mental health crisis in young people called ‘eco-anxiety’. Young people struggle to find ways to influence change and help tackle the nature and climate crises at a local or national level. This project provides skills, inspiration and opportunity to tackle eco-anxiety, including planting trees, orchards and hedgerows to increase carbon capture, improve biodiversity and reduce air pollution.
Solution
The programme offers the next generation of young environmentalists the chance to tackle the climate and nature crises by becoming a ‘Force for Nature’ and sharing their passion and learning with those around them – within their own schools and more widely. It enables children, young people and teachers in some of the most deprived and diverse communities to connect, learn, care for, and share with purpose, the power of trees and nature.
