We are a domestic abuse & sexual violence charity in Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland. Our Children & Young Persons Sexual Violence Advisor provides emotional & practical support to victims of sexual violence; we need additional funds for more hours as we have a growing waiting list of children.

Situation
Our Independent Sexual Violence Adviser (ISVA) works with children/young people who have been a victim of sexual violence and rape. We have a growing waiting list, this funding will give our ISVA more hours to help more children/teens through the trauma. The Crime Survey estimated that 7.5% of adults experienced sexual abuse before 16 years old (3.1 million people). In the year ending March 2019, the police in England & Wales recorded 73,260 sexual offences where the victim was a child.
Solution
Our ISVA provides emotional and practical support, tailored to meet the individual’s needs, for as long as is necessary. She works with people who do not wish to report the sexual violence to the police, those who have reported and have been told there will be no further action taken, and those that are going through the police reporting process. For those that are reporting, she will support them all the way up until Court, during the case being heard, and after.
