    Situation

We offer trauma informed support for young mums (under 21 yrs) in London, with many serious intersecting needs: two-thirds grew up in care, 82% have experienced domestic violence, and 90% have had previous mental health problems. Most have a high ACE score, are coping with insecure housing, poverty and poor educational achievement, and lack positive experiences of being parented themselves. Their babies are at greater risk of being disadvantaged and at increased risk of being neglected or abused

    Solution

YMA is the only specialist service supporting young mothers in the Greenwich borough and is highly regarded by social services, health visitors and midwives. We will provide a range of educative and fun trips, and experiences for vulnerable young mums to enjoy with their babies and peers. Giving them access to more positive experiences with their babies, we aim to stop the cycle of deprivation, improving their chances of having a better bond with their baby and reducing the risk of neglect/abuse
