Between April 2020 and March 2021, 74% of young people referred to our service were considered high risk, and 31% of teenage girls were at risk of becoming victims. We are requesting donations to start a programme dedicated to raising awareness of domestic abuse and providing specialised support.

    Situation

31% of teenage girls who are referred to our service by the Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference are either in, or at risk of being in an abusive relationship. With the ever-increasing demands on our services, and other services in our local area, we are experiencing high volumes of cases and with limited capacity we have an increasing waiting list of young people who need support now. Through this project we can establish a new role, dedicated specifically for young girls aged 13+.

    Solution

We will create a new role dedicated to supporting teenage girls who are either at risk or are experiencing an abusive relationship. Providing 1-1 support, helping them alleviate their trauma sooner. Working with local schools to raise awareness of domestic abuse, how to spot ‘red flags’ and what to do if they suspect either themselves or their friend is in an abusive relationship. By doing this, we hope to be able to support more teenagers in Hull. Keeping more girls safe and free from abuse.
