Across England women are empowering girls through the simple, essential power of mentoring. After disrupted education and uncertainty for the future, girls from the least advantaged communities need this more than ever. Together, we can break the bias and reinforce that their future isn’t limited

    Situation

Girls from low-income communities face a double-disadvantage – gender inequality which is exacerbated by poverty. Many don’t believe that they are able to access well-paid, high-status careers or know how to pursue them. Much of this stems from low-expectations and a lack of knowledge and support from within their immediate network. For these girls, circumstances affect their education and employment prospects.

    Solution

Through partnerships with schools, we match girls with volunteer professional woman mentors who over a year of monthly sessions focus on building confidence, resilience, careers knowledge, and access to networks, Culminating in a celebration event, girls then join our Ambassador Programme, a free lifelong networking community enabling continued access to support and a platform for their voices. We hope they will return as mentors once working, thus creating a self-sustaining social network.
