Following the closure of the only HG counselling service in the UK, we aim to launch a national telephone counselling service for those affected by Hyperemesis Gravidarum providing free or subsided sessions to ensure the service is accessible to all demographics of vulnerable, disadvantaged women.

Situation
Hyperemesis Gravidarum affects up to 3% of pregnancies. The severely underappreciated condition, which can lead to suicidal idealisation and PTSD, is currently the primary reason for the termination of wanted pregnancies. Sadly, there is a detrimental lack of support for those affected, leaving vulnerable women suffering emotionally and unable to access understanding, professional counselling. There is a great need for this service as there is no current HG specialist provision in the UK.
Solution
Through an already established network of HG knowledgeable counsellors, and alongside our in-house counsellor, we will offer fully funded and heavily subsidised specialist telephone counselling sessions to those who are experiencing emotional difficulties because of HG. The emotional turmoil from HG can last far beyond birth, and this service will offer women from the most disadvantaged groups accessibility to specialist provision which may otherwise not have been an option for them.
