    Situation

As recognised by the UN, girls are routinely confronted by gender injustice. Girls tell us that this impacts on how they see themselves, how their relationships play out and what opportunities they think are open to them for their futures. Research backs this up, showing for example that choices girls are encouraged to make at school, set a greater proportion on routes to lower-earning professional roles than boys. Vulnerable, disadvantaged and underrepresented girls are particularly affected.

    Solution

Building on 12 years’ work developing the power of girls, WOW will connect girls + women to spark transformative moments of realisation + inspiration. Involving 400 girls, 200 mentors, 15 workshops and 4 young leaders, in partnership with community organisations + schools, WOW will bring together a diverse, intersectional girl-led community to explore gender justice + foreground girls’ power to achieve change. Recognising the power of lived experience within underrepresented girls’ leadership.
