More women and girls than ever before are reaching out to First Light after experiencing sexual violence. We dealt with 2,782 enquiries last year, (up 41%). Overwhelmed services mean our waiting lists are growing. The pandemic continues to cause delays in Police investigations and court hearings with many victims waiting up to two years for any prospect of closure. Just 1.5% of rape cases result in conviction, leaving many women and girls struggling to recover from continuous traumatisation.

At First Light we don’t believe anybody should have to wait for support. We need your help to increase our capacity, cutting down waiting lists and ensuring we are there for every woman and girl, whenever they need us. £20000 will support 288 women and girls in the South West, funding urgent therapy and crisis support, empowering them to take the first steps on their road to recovery.
