Pregnancy/maternity discrimination affects three in four pregnant women and mothers (EHRC Research, 2016), with one in nine being forced out of their job. Before the current crisis, of these 54,000 women p/a, only 1%, raised a tribunal claim. This is a key contributor to the 15.4% overall gender pay gap (ONS, 2019). We expect the number of women who experience pregnancy/maternity discrimination to rapidly increase due to Covid-19.

We’ll help pregnant women & working mums overcome the long-term inequalities they face in their careers & wellbeing, plus the immediate impact of Covid-19 (which has had a disproportionate economic impact on women). Drawing on highly skilled core staff team & our pool of highly motivated volunteers we’ll deliver advice lines, resources hub, 1:1 mentoring, live & virtual events, training programmes, support to employers to change practice, campaigning and ongoing awareness raising.

  • "I just wanted to let you know that through the RESET festival, redundancy rehab and the CIPD mentorship I found a new job & on my terms. I was made redundant whilst pregnant with my second (worked for the company for 8 years) & got a settlement via you guys for discrimination."

  • “Thank you for your advice, support and solidarity. The call helped me have the confidence to submit a difficult email to my manager. I really appreciate the kind and thoughtful tone that the adviser had as well, even when I got a bit upset about the situation I was facing at work.”
