Situation
Domestic Abuse, a pattern of coercive controlling behaviour, has a devastating impact on the physical and emotional wellbeing of adult victims and on the current and future welfare of their children. Seeking change can escalate the risk. Victims need trustworthy individual support from someone dedicated to their safety and wellbeing linked with services working closely together to coordinate safety planning and support them to easily access the range of resources they need.
Solution
Our dedicated independent domestic violence advisor (IDVA) team will respond within a working day to everyone at high risk through abuse to ensure their immediate safety. They will provide intense one to one support to enable safety planning, help manage the impact of trauma, build confidence, provide support through the courts. They will work closely with our multi-agency Network of 'Domestic Abuse Champions' to empower survivors to access the resources they need and establish safe lives.
