Medair will provide emergency assistance to cover the critical health care, nutrition and essential Non-Food Item needs of internally displaced people in Tigray Region, Ethiopia. We will contribute to the reduction of mortality and morbidity among the population by supporting Health Care Centres.

Situation
More than 1.7 million people are displaced due to ongoing conflict in the Tigray Region of Ethiopia. Large areas of Tigray remain inaccessible or only partially accessible, and an estimated 5.2 million are in need of humanitarian aid. Since May 2021 Medair has carried out need assessments and has identified large gaps in the provision of healthcare and nutrition services in the area, including limited response in hard to reach areas and shortages of nurses and doctors to address malnutrition.
Solution
We are launching a project to address the urgent and critical needs of displaced people in Tigray, Ethiopia - an area where very few humanitarian actors are present. We will run Mobile Health and Nutrition teams to reach the populations living in remote areas and provide them with primary healthcare, including treatment for children under five, maternal health, and treatment for adults with acute and chronic diseases. We will also distribute emergency Non-Food Item kits to families in need.
