    Situation

The problem we are solving is that children don’t always have the opportunities to meet and work with children different to themselves and this can lead to misunderstanding and lack of confidence in connecting and working with others. We are all very aware of the need to widen children and young people’s horizons and build cohesion. In addition, Covid has brought increased levels of separation to us all and Schools Linking can provide one way to connect.

    Solution

Our established Schools Linking programme provides structured training, guidance and resources to support schools create links between pairs of classes from demographically different schools. Working across England, our network of 29 Schools Linking Programmes creates opportunities for meaningful contact for over 30,000 children each year. There is strong evidence that contact between people from different backgrounds can reduce prejudice; increase trust and understanding between groups.
