Sexual abuse & rape inflict deep trauma which has a devastating impact on an individual's physiology, emotions, their ability to think, learn & concentrate, & their relationships with others. This can cause many problems & can last a lifetime if left untreated. Those affected often suffer from depression, anxiety & PTSD with side effects including nightmares, panic attacks, self-harm & thoughts/attempts of suicide. They commonly have low self-esteem & turn to drugs/alcohol as coping strategies
Solution
The Birchall Trust provides specialist trauma-informed therapy in the form of one-to-one & group sessions. We work holistically with each individual and help them move forward by developing healthy coping strategies, building their self-awareness & improving their health/wellbeing. Therapists work alongside each individual so they feel safe, believed & understood. This helps them to express their experiences, learn how to manage their emotions/behaviour & build relationships with others.
