    Situation

1 in 6 young people (16-24) have symptoms of a common mental health disorder and 1 in 10 have a serious mental illness. For young people from Black, Asian or other ethnic minority backgrounds in London numbers are significantly higher but they are less likely to access support than white peers and more likely to receive support through a court order. Many have complex lives and lack positive role models and support to develop skills and a plan for the future.

    Solution

Mentoring will support the most socio-economically disadvantaged young people with complex lives to develop confidence and skills, have a plan for their future and take practical steps to actualise future plans, boosting long-term outcomes. Mentoring is on a digital platform designed around a mentoring relationship with tools and resources to support building rapport and develop conversations. Mentees access a library of articles, activities and videos through the app’s resource centre.
