This campaign has now closed

We've expanded our Legal Advice Service, so we can continue to help parents combine work and care as we enter a new ‘hybrid working’ normal, as new work-care problems and challenges join long-standing ones, and as the end of the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme looms this autumn.

    Situation

When people become parents, their experience of work and how it interacts with their home lives often changes. And for many parents, it starts when a woman becomes pregnant. The EHR’s 2015 research found 1:9 expectant or new mothers felt forced to leave their job – 54,000 mothers a year. And over 75% women reported missing out a promotion or training, being demoted, or being singled out for redundancy in connection with their status as expectant or new mothers.

    Solution

Our free legal advice, information and guidance, provides parents with the knowledge to resolve their work problem, stay in work, and support - and see - their families. We provided support to 1.6 million parents in 2020/21 through our updated webpages and supported over 3,000 parents on our phone line and by email.
