Situation
St Peter’s Church is a bright and spacious building with exciting potential for wider use but the entrance does not meet accessibility requirements and there are no toilets, or provision for serving refreshments in the public areas of the building. The addition of these facilities is essential so we can increase activities that bring people together to help alleviate loneliness and support wellbeing, and to enable wider use of the church by community groups and for musical and cultural events.
Solution
Funding from The Big Give will contribute to building costs and help unlock further grant funding to install: - fully accessible ramped and stepped access at the main entrance - toilets, including accessible facilities - a kitchenette for provision of refreshments. With appropriate facilities in place, St Peter’s will be accessible to all and able to offer increased activities to bring people together and a welcoming and well-resourced space for the wider community to use.
