We are raising funds for a Walk a Mile track for our pupils, school family and local residents to use to improve their fitness, health and wellbeing and to make sure that those people without access to an outside space have somewhere to walk a mile and enjoy exercising together.

Situation
Since the return from lockdown, we have seen a decrease in physical and health and mental wellbeing amongst our children and in our community. Incomes have decreased, tensions and anxiety risen and many local families live in flats with little access to any outside space. Our Children's Centre which had acted as community resource/hub for families, vulnerable older people and children in need and those most at risk of isolation, was closed down and we lost a valuable exercise & activity venue.
Solution
We want to install a weather proof 'Walk a Mile track' to bring our community together through the Daily Mile initiative. People of all ages can walk together and get to know each other during the school day, at weekends and in the evenings through special mile events/walks that will be free. The Daily Mile will provide a positive and energising start to the day for our pupils and staff and provide an outdoor venue for everyone to engage in an achievable, manageable form of communal exercise.
