Many of us are getting involved in trees, to Realise Our Optimal Tree-cover (R.O.O.T). But some people face barriers such as transport, location, mobility. The Forest of Avon Trust will plan, research and arrange projects to plant and care for trees with those who are currently facing barriers.

    Situation

Problem: Barriers for minority groups and those currently challenged in connecting with nature, trees and woodlands. We will enable more people who are not currently doing so to connect with trees in the ways they wish to do so. Problem: People living in areas of low tree cover/areas deprived of nature which impacts health and wellbeing. We will gather more information on these communities and how we can support people locally in planting trees and improve/enjoy their local green spaces.

    Solution

By gathering information, talking to individuals and charities/groups that support people currently facing barriers to accessing woodlands. We will ask how best we can support individuals to plant/care for trees and get involved in local green spaces near where they live. We will run events which may be workshops, conservation days with travel, tree planting, outdoor skills sessions, We would like to create a central resource for individuals to access tree planting activity.
