    Situation

Many young people (YP) in Camden live in areas of high deprivation, have spent long periods of time in overcrowded housing during the Covid-19 lockdowns without safe space.YP are so often portrayed negatively in the media yet they share the same concerns as adults about community safety and are affected disproportionally by violence and crime. YP have the passions, talents, and skills to contribute towards making our communities safer places but they are rarely given the opportunity to do so.

    Solution

By organising a series of youth-led community events, YP will foster better community relationships and demonstrate the positive contribution they can make to the community. YP will be at the forefront of organising these and will be responsible for all stewarding - from setting up & cleaning, to serving food and hosting on stage. Over 100 young people will volunteer at the events which will bring together 500+ residents, reconnecting and increasing their sense of community belonging once more.
