    Situation

Domestic abuse impacts lives physically, emotionally and financially. Feelings of isolation, anxiety, powerlessness and depression can be experienced by both the victim and the child witness the abuse. The Covid-19 pandemic has seen an increase in domestic abuse related incidents and SWACA is determined to meet the need for support within Sefton. '67.4% of survivors who are currently experiencing abuse told us that it had got worse since Covid-19' (Womens Aid - 'A Perfect Storm' Aug 2020).

    Solution

Our skilled and experienced staff deliver a wide variety of support covering areas such as managing risk, safety planning, emotional wellbeing, parenting, financial independence, housing and finances and self esteem. We build programmes of work specifically for children and young people focusing on enabling a deeper understanding of healthy relationships, managing emotions and building effective support networks.
