Each year Dreamflight takes 192 children with a serious illness/disability for a 10-day trip to Orlando. The trip gives them a chance to discover independence and a whole new outlook on life. This project would fund a specific part of the trip - visits to the theme parks in Orlando.

    Situation

Unfortunately, there are too many deserving children across the UK suffering from a serious illness or disability and many also from deprived backgrounds. Often they are cared for round-the-clock by their families and carers and rarely get to experience the things other children might experience. Aside from the pain and discomfort of their illness, they often feel alone or the 'odd one out' a sense that can stay with the children throughout their lives. Dreamflight aims to change this.

    Solution

Dreamflight aims to help these children reach their potential by doing something that medicine can't; give confidence, independence and a sense of fun. With the help of our volunteer doctors, physiotherapists, nurses and other volunteers we take the children without their parents on the holiday of a lifetime. They meet others in a similar situation, develop lifelong friendships, as well as experiencing the thrills of the theme parks of Orlando during their Dreamflight trip.
