Situation
Too many young people do not believe in themselves and are not achieving their potential. Social immobility is one of the most challenging issues facing British society today. Many young people lack opportunities to be inspired; to develop their autonomy; to build supportive relationships; and to acquire essential life skills. These young people often develop ‘fixed mindsets’ and poor emotional wellbeing, and many disengage from their communities and wider society.
Solution
The Key tackles this problem by providing young people with the opportunity to take the lead and be inspired. Our skills development programme starts with young people and what they want. It focuses on their existing strengths and helps to build new ones by challenging them to Think, Plan, Pitch, Do and Review their own group ideas. By taking part, their confidence and skills and provides a pathway for them to positively impact the causes, spaces and communities which matter to them the most.
