Situation

Hedgehog numbers are declining and with less than 1 million now estimated to remain in UK their species has now been classified as 'vulnerable to extinction'. Habitat loss, climate change, depleted food sources and human influences are some of the main contributors of hedgehog casualties. Unfortunately, there are very few wildlife rehabilitation centres in our area and with the demand for our services rising our resources are being stretched. Without support many of these hedgehogs will perish.

Solution

Hedgehog casualties arrive sick, injured or underweight during winter. Once in our care we will provide the necessary resources, care, warmth, food, equipment and vet treatment they need to get healthy for release. We will assist members of the public, veterinary clinics, wildlife police officers and RSPCA inspectors across our area with hedgehog casualties to improve the chances of helping more hedgehogs.
