Lockdown has had an adverse effect on the vulnerable children and families that Dandelion Time supports; an increased incidence of abuse, further isolation and a deterioration in emotional and behavioural difficulties. Our therapeutic family farm sessions are an effective and vital lifeline.

    Situation

Around two million children in England face a range of vulnerabilities exaccerbated by Covid-19. Calls to the National Domestic Abuse helpline up 49%. At Dandelion Time, 88% of our referrals have experienced abuse or domestic violence in some form. Referred children are often isolated and in a state of crisis as a result of complex emotional and behavioural difficulties and wider disadvantages; trauma, domestic abuse. Financial and schooling pressures have placed further strain on families

    Solution

Our approach offers a non-medical systemic model working experientially with the natural world and crafts to heal relationships and address the root causes of the cycle of abuse and neglect. Using natural craft activities, we help families to overcome the difficulties they are facing and build stronger bonds. Children develop resilience and have achieved remarkable and long-lasting changes in their lives as a result of coming to Dandelion Time.
