    Situation

    • 69% of St Andrew’s Club members live in social housing, many from homes on tight family budgets, where Christmas treats may not be affordable. • Research from Child Poverty Action Group highlights struggling families face additional pressures during school holidays; parents feeling guilty if not providing the same holiday experiences, toys, trips and memories as peers. • Covid has increased financial and emotional pressures. • Few other affordable engaging opportunities for local young people.

    Solution

Track record, local knowledge, well-established relationships with members/families who would otherwise miss out, enable us to provide special memorable enriching experiences that last a lifetime. A four-day period of Christmas Festivities will alleviate pressure on disadvantaged families: festive games, party, entertainment, Pantomime trip and gifts. Members will share experiences together with friendship groups at the Club, as well be able to recount them to family at home.
