We are seeking funds for a dormitory so that we can provide boarding facilities for secondary age girls and supplement the primary and secondary education already being provided. In phase 2 we will add a dormitory for boys. The school is charity funded and educates poor village children.

    Situation

By converting to a boarding school we will give the children safe and supportive environment for study, provide them with much needed nutritional support and improved general care, reduce the chance of them being kept away from school to do chores at home and greatly reduce teen pregnancies. The children get little or no encouragement from their parents, sleep on dirt floors with many in one room, have no electricity to enable them to do homework and insufficient food to energise them for work.

    Solution

We plan to build a dormitory for girls in phase 1 and a boy's dormitory in phase 2. Our costings for phase 1 includes bathrooms, bunk beds, a basic unit for a house parent and solar power. The dormitory will enable us to accommodate secondary age girls overnight, provide a safe and environment where they can thrive, get the nutrition they need and the support and electricity they need to do homework. The school has a track record of delivery and is held up as a 'beacon school' by the government.
