All funds will help us save more young lives by supporting HOPELINEUK, PAPYRUS’ suicide prevention crisis helpline. 2020 saw a 20% increase in calls received, so now is the time to 'give big' to make sure we are there for the young people of the UK and others who are concerned about a young person.
It ran from 12:00 PM, 30 November 2021 to 12:00 PM, 7 December 2021

Suicide is the biggest killer of young people in the UK today. Last year over 1,800 people under the age of 35 took their own lives. This is <5 people every day. Every year 1,000’s more attempt or contemplate suicide & are afraid to speak openly about how they are feeling. 2/3 to 3/4 of those that die by suicide are not previously known to mental health services. Only by speaking out can we remove the stigma ensuring those with thoughts of suicide can voice their feelings & ask for help.
PAPYRUS is the national charity dedicated to the prevention of young suicide & exists to help young people & their families. We support, equip & influence communities through HOPELINEUK & our training & awareness-raising sessions. These are developed using our experience to engage with hard-to-reach communities, building resilience & raising awareness of suicide, mental health & self-harm. PAPYRUS also campaigns to influence local & national policy & to remove the ongoing stigma around suicide.
I cannot begin to tell you how helpful this conversation has been. It might be one of the best conversations I have had in my life. My problems are still there. But I have feelings now where I didn’t before. I feel a connection again and I honestly put it down to this call. Thank you.
Thank you for your help over the last 24 hours. I managed to have the confidence to have a conversation with my son & we're going to find a way forward together. I already sense a feeling of slight relief from him… but I think he realises we are concerned and care about him. It's a such a relief.
Thank you for the card & certificate that can show my colleagues that very kindly helped me raise £2,100 which I’m incredibly proud of. Thank you for the work you're doing at this incredible charity.
