Situation
Without safe water or sanitation families are unable to wash hands, practise basic hygiene & cannot protect from diseases or sudden viral outbreaks like COVID. They become trapped in a cycle of ill health & poverty. Recurring illness means children miss school & parents can't work. Much of girls' time is spent walking for water. Boiling dirty water to make it safe to drink uses up vital natural resources & creates harmful Co2 emissions. Rural areas are most at risk of being left behind.
Solution
We work with local partners in Zambia & Mozambique to identify communities, install & repair water pumps, train people in hygiene practices, pump maintenance & support construction of simple sanitation facilities. Access to these basic facilities improves health dramatically & families can take advantage of life-improving opportunities. We ensure every person gains the knowledge to look after their water point & facilities so they can live the rest of their lives in good health.
