Rubicon connects with 2000 socially isolated people weekly. In order to continue to develop our work in communities, we need more space. We are fortunate to have received Roath Library a grade II listed building via community asset transfer, but must now raise funds to transform the space.

    Situation

Our worry is COVID-19’s impact on our vulnerable and isolated participants. They’ve told us that they’re finding it hard to get back to life and some have developed depression and PTSD. We want to help them ease back into life but, as we get ready to restart in-person classes, we realise we don’t have space for everyone. We need to renovate and open our new studio (the former Roath Library) urgently. Much-loved by the community, this building was emptied in 2014 and has been deteriorating since.

    Solution

We’re fundraising to renovate Roath Library. We’ll breathe a new life into the building by transforming it into a state-of-art hub for dance in Wales and making it accessible for Splott’s local community - one of the most disadvantaged areas of the UK. The new space will allow us to work and help even more vulnerable people (disadvantaged children, people with disabilities and other community groups). We'll help them improve their health and re-building the confidence lost through the pandemic.
