    Situation

Transitioning between formal opera education and a professional career is difficult, with few chances to gain supportive experiences. Covid has meant that young people aged 18-30 have lost out on training and like any athlete, singers must train their muscles to create their sound. Our sector is in crisis and careers are becoming less attainable; especially to lower socio-economic groups. Free training is essential to allow talent of any means or background to fulfil their potential.

    Solution

Training is free of charge to help those emerging professionals with potential, not only those who can afford to compete. BYO’s training programmes will provide over 100 participants per year with invaluable experience of working in a professional opera environment. We will provide workshops for: singers, directors, musicians, designers, conductors and stage management. BYO will nurture and help launch the careers of many and to be seen by agents and casting directors of the UK’s opera houses. .
