The pandemic has exacerbated the challenges families were already facing. Isolation, anxiety, mental health struggles & an increase in domestic abuse have had a detrimental affect on children. Babies & young children have missed out developmentally through lack of interaction & socialisation during lockdown; a need has also become apparent for parenting support for Dads. In general parents confidence in providing a positive environment for their children has significantly declined.

Home-Start Herts provides early intervention via an intensive, support package, that is tailored to meet each family’s needs. Support is delivered weekly by a volunteer mentor who provides emotional and practical support helping parents build confidence, coping strategies and positive relationships (Currently being delivered remotely). Group support is also provided to help children's social, emotional and physical development as well as developing parents networks and parenting skills.
