Afrinspire supports local partners functioning at the grassroots level to tackle the root causes of poverty, and build on the assets and opportunities of each community. Food, water, and women's empowerment are key to this. Access to safe, secure food and water remains out of reach for many in Uganda's rural communities, and without careful planning can further deplete natural resources. Up to 50% of women in these same communities are illiterate, resulting in discrimination and disempowerment.

Through sustainable and drought-resistant farming techniques along with programmes to protect water sources, Afrinspire helps communities build resilience against the challenges of climate change whilst meeting the needs of their families. Functional Adult Literacy (FAL) programmes are offered alongside this, providing first-time access to literacy and life skills for women in rural communities, leading to these women creating their own income generating projects for themselves and their groups.
