This campaign has now closed

The Jungle ward appeal was launched in late 2019, but as a result of the pandemic had to be put on hold. The charity is now in a position to relaunch the appeal, to ensure the 1400 children treated on Jungle ward each year have the the best possible care and chance of recovery.

    Situation

The needs of the children of Jungle ward at the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital for Wales are changing. Jungle ward cares for more children with complex medical conditions and young people in mental health crisis than ever before. It now provides rehabilitation for children with brain injuries, where previously they traveled elsewhere for this specialist treatment. Due to the nature of the conditions, hospital stays are longer and more frequent than average and are often more traumatic.

    Solution

Jungle Ward will be transformed into a bright, stimulating environment. From spaces like a play area, sensory room and ‘teen zone’, to a safe and therapeutic environment for young people admitted in mental health crisis, a therapy room for children recovering from brain injury and fully accessible bathrooms providing dignity and privacy. Jungle ward will be designed specifically to provide the best possible level of care. A space where families can still be families during their hospital stays.
