Situation
The children we look after have suffered severe abuse and neglect. However, family members will, in many instances, continue to be involved in a child’s care, with more than 75% of children in our care having some form of contact with their birth parents. These relationships are not always positive and constructive and can perpetuate the problems a child is experiencing. This impacts on the child’s ability to form healthy relationships.
Solution
Our Placement Family Support workers are highly trained, supported & experienced in using therapeutic techniques to support severely traumatised children & their families. They maintain contact with family members throughout their child’s time with us, providing support that is tailored to their individual needs. This includes regular face-to-face meetings, periodic reviews and telephone consultations.
