They give everyone immediate access to specialist pre hospital emergency medical care at the scene. Helping to reduce response times, health inequalities and long term disability and ultimately save lives. BASICS Devon is the only voluntary service that offer this type of specialist service with higher clinical input in Devon that can be at the scene within minutes, when seconds count.
Solution
The doctors are senior decision makers carrying enhanced pain relief, sedative drugs and can undertake specialist surgical procedures in an emergency. They can administer urgent drugs in a crisis to ease pain and suffering of the terminally ill in the community, as well as day to day accident and emergency call outs. Some parts of Devon are over an hour’s drive from the nearest major hospital and BASICS Devon doctors can be fast to the scene, in all-weather conditions day and night.
