All children deserve a safe space to learn. At Mercy Primary School in Kenya, one more classroom is needed for each grade to have their own space to learn. This will not only improve the quality of education for current students but allow more students living in this poor, remote community to enrol.

    Situation

Over the past few years, old temporary classrooms at Mercy Primary have been replaced with safe, new classrooms. Currently, grades 2 and 3 share one classroom, which makes teaching difficult. Mercy Primary provides quality education to children from poor backgrounds, but the number of students that can be reached is limited by this lack of space. Two year groups in one classroom also causes difficulties for social distancing to keep all students safe as we adapt to living with COVID-19.

    Solution

Your support will construct the final classroom fitted with a rainwater harvesting system, so the school can offer quality education to more children and improve teaching and learning for all students. The community have been working hard to create brighter futures for their children, but are unable to afford the cost of construction. Constructing this final classroom will be an exciting final step for the school and community and provide quality education to thousands of children in the future.
