SALTO delivers weekly gymnastics training & other activities to over 700 Luton's children. PlayGym/Tumbletime Sessions attended by 200 per week pre-school children & their carers. Our young leader scheme provides leadership skills, employability opportunities & to gain CPD qualifications. We are seeking funding to start 2022 with confidence.

Situation
Luton has one of the highest rates of childhood obesity at year six in England, with obesity rates running at over 40%. Luton has one of the most physically inactive adult populations in England, >33% of residents participating in <30 mins physically activity/week compared to 26% nationally. Luton is the 70th most deprived local authority population in England (27 most deprived LSOA), making it in the top 20% for deprivation nationally. Luton's ethnic mix - 40% BAME;20% Other & 40% White.
Solution
SALTO has created a "state-of-the-art" Gymnastics & Leisure facility at the SALTO Centre in Luton. We will recruit, train and employ a cohort of professional coaches (including a group of young leaders) to deliver a comprehensive set of programs to Luton's children and young people & those in the surrounding towns & villages. We operate a fully inclusive policy that creates opportunities for all to participate, within the capacity restrictions of user spaces or other activities as we rebuild.
