There is a lack of targeted peer-to-peer support for adoptive parents which has multiple implications, including: ● Adopters can feel alone and isolated in their experiences which can lead to Post-Adoption Depression Syndrome; ● Compassion-fatigue which can impact on children's mental health; ● A lack of support can reinforce the trauma and loss experienced by adopters ● Potential for adoption breakdown; ● The narrative around adoption becomes negative and it becomes harder to recruit new adopters.

We Are Family provides free membership to the adoption community; offering support through the highs and lows of parenting through peer support groups, family meet-ups, blogs, expert webinars and our online library of resources and opportunities. Our new podcast, Adoption Shared, offers a versatile way for members - and the general public - to engage with inspiring conversations with guests who share insight and experiences of the adoption journey, from a variety of different perspectives.
