The Magic of Sleepovers gives children with complex disabilities a chance to spend a fun night away in a safe environment, where they can improve their independence and social skills. Parents and siblings can have a peaceful night of sleep, rest and take a meaningful break from draining 24/7 care.

    Situation

Cherry Trees knows the importance of sound sleep and rest for the whole family. Without sufficient rest, families are at higher risk of breakdown. Vital respite enables families to get the support they need, and remain resilient to the relentless pressures of caring for children with disabilities. Without this, children may have fewer opportunities to make friends, build skills and grow in confidence. Parents and siblings, often regular carers, cannot recuperate or spend quality time together.

    Solution

We want children with complex disabilities and their families to have access to vital visits and benefit from the magic of sleep. £30,000 could subsidise and enable 294 full days and great nights of sleep at Cherry Trees. These respite breaks will benefit the whole family; acting as a preventative measure, with less likelihood of family breakdown. Families will be more resilient and children with disabilities will have a greater quality of life and independence.
